MONMOUTH, Ill. - The Rockford University women's soccer team (0-1) fell 5-0 on the road Friday evening to the Monmouth College Scots (1-0). Despite what the final score might suggest, the Regents played even with the Fighting Scots for the vast majority of the match. Unfortunately, Monmouth struck for five goals in a twelve minute span early in the first half, to take what turned out to be an insurmountable 5-0 lead.
- The first goal of the match came in the 13th minute when Kara-Jade Gordon found the back of the net to give Monmouth a 1-0 lead.
- The Fighting Scots extended their lead to 3-0 with goals from Erica Bossard and Jordyn Gosell in the 19th and 20th minutes.
- Monmouth tacked on two more goals in the 23rd and 25th minutes to secure the 5-0 win.
- Freshman goalkeeper Amelia Harper began her collegiate career in net with 13 saves.
The Rockford University women's soccer team returns to the field on Saturday, August 31 at Iowa Wesleyan. The match has a scheduled start time of 1:00 PM.
