MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Rockford University men's tennis team concluded its 2014 season on Saturday with a pair of dual meets in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Regents opened their day against the MSOE Raiders and then played its final dual match of the season at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors.
Despite the 9-0 loss against the MSOE Raiders, the Regents played well in multiple matches but were not quite able to get over the hump. Mladen Ubiparipovic (Loves Park, Ill./Harlem) played an excellent first set in his match at the #1 singles spot. Ubiparipovic pushed his opponent to the edge in the opening set but fell 7-6 and then lost the second set by 6-0 final. Fellow senior Ryan Woodard (St. Charles, Ill./Burlington Central) also played well in his opening set at the #4 singles position before falling in straight sets. Woodard battled hard but dropped the opening set 6-4 and then lost the second set 6-0. In #1 doubles action it was Ubiparipovic and Sam Medina-Conchi (Milwaukee, Wis./Ronald Reagan) who fought admirably but in the end fell by an 8-3 final.
In the afternoon dual meet the Regents ran into a very hot Wisconsin Lutheran College team who has won 7 of its last 8 dual meets. Rockford's best performances once again came out of the number one singles and doubles position. Ubiparipovic was the lone Regent to win games in singles action and the duo of Ubiparipovic and Medina-Conchi were the only doubles team to win games as well. The Regents lost the afternoon dual meet by a 9-0 final to the Warriors.
The Rockford University men's tennis team finished its season with an 0-9 record. Mladen Ubiparipovic finished with a 4-5 record at the #1 singles position while Ryan Woodard also finished with a 4-5 record at the #4 singles position.
