Regents Beat Down Beavers


LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team (4-2-1) hosted the Blackburn College Beavers (0-7-0) and was in control from the very first whistle on Saturday. Junior Ryan Munch (Rockford, Ill.) had himself a day as he recorded two goals and an assist as Rockford chalked up the 4-0 win.


  •  Rockford controlled the ball for the entirety of the match.
  • The Regents outshout Blackburn 17-0 in the first half.
  • Cruz Marquez (Arvada, Colo.) recorded the game-winning goal as he struck it into the net off a nice pass from Ryan Munch 18:50 into the game.
  • Just a few minutes later it was Much who scored, as he finished a deflection off the goalie into the back of the net.
  • Rockford went into the half leading 2-0.
  • Just two minutes into the second half Munch did it again as he scored off a quick pass from Saeed Alqahtani (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) to lengthen the Regent lead.
  • Simeon Adesina (Plainfield, Ill.) joined the scoring party when he finished it neatly into the upper right corner of the goal off a Carlos Montes (Waukesha, Wis.) pass to make it 4-0.
  • Rockford outshout the Beavers 17-2 in the second half.


  • Rockford controlled the entire game outshooting Blackburn 34-2 and having an 11-2 advantage in corner kicks.
  • With two goals today, Ryan Munch now has 3 goals in two games. 
  • Munch also recorded his first assist on the season.
  • Cruz Marquez also recorded a goal in back-to-back games.
  • With his goal against Blackburn Marquez recorded his first career game-winning goal.
  • Simeon Adesina joins the group with scoring in back-to-back games.
  • Saeed Alqahtani chalked up his first career assist.
  • Carlos Montes recorded his second assist on the season.
  • Edgar Gomez (Belvidere, Ill.) recorded his first career shutout.


  • The Rockford University men's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, September 19 for its first NACC action when it hosts Dominican. Kickoff is set for 7 PM at Sportscore Two.
