ROCKFORD, Ill. - Rockford University senior forward Tony Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week. It marks the second time this season and the fourth time during his career that Diemer has earned a NACC weekly award.
Tony Diemer averaged a double-double to help lead Rockford to a 2-0 NACC record last week, and get his team within striking distance of securing a berth in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament. Diemer tallied his fourth double-double of the season in Rockford's 80-72 win over Marian with 18 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists. He then capped off his week with 25 points and 8 rebounds in Rockford's 93-78 road victory over Benedictine. It was the Regents' first win at Benedictine since Saturday, January 30, 2010. For the week, Diemer averaged 21.5 points on 55.6% shooting, 10.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists.
The RU men's basketball team concludes the home portion of its regular season schedule on Wednesday, February 6 against Concordia University Chicago. Tip-off is set for 7:15 PM in the Seaver Center.
