Stars Shoot Past Regents

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University men's basketball team (0-5, 0-3 NACC) dropped to the Dominican University Stars (1-3, 1-0 NACC) on Saturday afternoon. The game was back-and-forth until the end as there were 10 lead changes throughout. Dominican was able to hit its open shots from deep as the Stars converted 15-of-34 from beyond the arc and went on to take the game by a final score of 85-70.


  • The first half opened with a back-and-forth battle as both teams exchanged points.
  • The Regents saw themselves up 14-7 early after Kivontay Shaw (Galesburg, Ill.) knocked down a three-pointer.
  • Dominican was resilient as the Stars came back to take a 28-24 advantage on the Regents with 8:58 remaining in the half.
  • Neither team would budge as it was locked at 36-36 with 2:50 left to play.
  • The Stars were able to regain the lead as Dominican took a 43-40 lead into the half.
  • Both teams were hitting from beyond the arc in the first half as Rockford shot 5-of-7 while Dominican shot 8-of-18.
  • Kevin Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) led the Regents with 11 points in the first half.
  • Denzel Halliburton (Elkhart, Ind.) was a perfect 2-for-2 from deep in the first half for the Regents.
  • The Stars came out hot in the second half as they sprung out to a 14-6 run just five minutes in.
  • Rockford was able to string together a run to trail Dominican 59-53.
  • The Regents were able to shift the momentum of the game when Jeremiah Stewart (Chicago, Ill.) stole the ball and took it down the floor and threw it down. Rockford kept the momentum by making it a one-point game, trailing 61-60.
  • Dominican was quick to silence Rockford's momentum as the Stars hit back-to-back threes to make it 67-60 with 9:53 to play. The Stars continued to add to their lead taking a 78-66 lead with 5:38 in the game.
  • DU held on to the lead to drop the Regents by a final score of 85-70.
  • The Stars saw a lot of contribution from its bench as Dominican's bench outscored Rockford's 53-26.


  • Taylor Krocker (Portage, Wis.) led the Regents with a season-high 14 points while tacking on 5 rebounds and an assist. Krocker was also a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc.
  • Kevin Diemer was one rebound shy of a double-double as he finished the game with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. 
  • Jeremiah Stewart logged 9 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
  • Tony Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) tallied 9 points, 5 rebounds and an assist.





The Rockford University men's basketball team returns to the court on Wednesday, December 5 when it travels to take on Marian. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 PM.
