MEQUON, Wis. - The Rockford University volleyball team lost in straight sets on Saturday to NACC Preseason Favorite, Concordia University Wisconsin. The Regents knew it would be a tall task to knock off the Falcons, as Concordia Wisconsin entered the match with a 19-2 overall record including a perfect 5-0 mark in NACC play.
The Falcons got off to a fast start taking the first two sets 25-10 and 25-8. Despite their early struggles, the Regents put up a strong fight in the third set. Rockford used a balanced attack in the opening moments as a different Regent recorded a kill on each of the first four points. Rockford was able to stay within striking distance for the majority of the set trailing just 13-10 midway through. However, the Falcons proved to be too much down the stretch, taking the set 25-16 to win the match 3-0.
RU freshman Emily Johannes (Eau Claire, Wis.) once again led the Rockford offense. Johannes finished with a team-high 9 kills and 7 digs.
The women's volleyball team returns to the court on Wednesday, October 11 to face Mount Mary University. The match has a scheduled time of 7:00 PM in the Seaver Center.
