ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Regents returned to the court Friday night facing off against NACC foe, Concordia University of Chicago. RU fought the whole way but were unable to pull out a win. Rockford dropped 3 straight sets losing, 25-19, 25-10, and 25-20.
The match opened up with a lot of intensity on both sides, as points were exchanged for much of the set until the Cougars managed to close it out. CUC took the momentum from the end of the first set and carried it through, winning 25-10 in the second set. The third set was another back-and-forth battle on the court, unfortunately, the Cougars managed to claw out the win. The Regent attack was led by Maddison Hiland (Bellevue, Iowa) and August Guest (Lahaina, Hawaii) who recorded 15 of the teams 25 kills. Hiland recorded 10, while Diaz contributed with 5 of her own. Kayla Barthels (Fort Worth, Tex.) put together a solid game, as she led the team in both assists (15) and digs (8).
The Rockford University volleyball team returns to action as they travel to MSOE on Friday, October 6. The match has a scheduled start time of 7 PM.
