SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - The Regents volleyball team played its second road match in less than 24 hours on Saturday morning as Rockford squared off against the Lakeland University Muskies. Much like yesterday's match at Marian, the Regents fell behind early in each of the three sets and eventually lost in straight sets.
Once again the Regents best opportunity to win a set came in the third and final set of the match. The set went back-and-forth in the opening moments as the Regents and Muskies took turns taking the lead. With the match tied at 5-5, it was the Muskies who went on a 9-2 run to jump out in front 14-7. Rockford was able to chip away at the Muskie lead and get back with 4 points on multiple occasions, but it was not enough as Lakeland was eventually able to put the Regents away for the 3-0 win.
Senior Taylor Rossi (Ingleside, Ill.) had another outstanding match for Rockford on Saturday. Rossi smashed a team-high 7 kills on just 9 attack attempts for an astounding .778 kill percentage. She also added 17 assists, 7 digs and 1 block assist.
The RU women's volleyball team returns home next Tuesday, October 18 against Wisconsin Lutheran College. The match has a scheduled start time of 7:00 PM in the Seaver Center.
