LOVES PARK, Ill. - The RU women's soccer team took to the indoors on Tuesday evening to face off against Maranatha Baptist University. Even with the shots being 10-4 in the first half in favor of the Sabercats, the score remained tied 1-1 heading into halftime. Maranatha would go on to score 2 more goals to take the game with a final of 3-1.
The Sabercats struck first scoring exactly 4 minutes into the game. The Regents did not get discouraged as they found an answer with Nancy Zuniga (Capron, Ill.) knotting the score at 1. Victoria Rodgers (Bakersfield, Calif.) started the play by sending a ball across the box who found Zuniga for her first collegiate goal. However, the Maranatha attack was too much as they would go on to score two more goals in the second half, while outshooting RU 12-3.
The Rockford University women's soccer team returns to action Friday, October 20 as they host Mount Mary during their senior day. The match has a scheduled start time of 4 PM.
