APPLETON, Wis. - The Rockford University women's soccer team concluded its two-game road trip on Saturday against the Lawrence University Vikings. Unfortunately Lawrence was in control for most of the match as Rockford was shutout for the seventh time this season. The Vikings used a 29-8 advantage in shots including a 17-3 edge in shots on goal for a 5-0 victory.
Lawrence broke the scoreless tie in thirteenth minute when Ryan Berkley found the back of the net to give the Vikings an early 1-0 lead. The Vikings added another goal in the 23rd minute off the foot of Kelli Quick to take a 2-0 advantage into halftime. Lawrence would put the match out of reach early in the second half scoring two goals in the first fifteen minutes en route to a 5-0 victory.
Rockford goalie Drew Garcia (Victoria, Texas) made 10 saves in her 81:34 in goal on Saturday. This marks the third time in the last four matches that Garcia has recorded double-digit saves.
The RU women's soccer team returns home on Sunday, October 8 to face Lakeland University. The match has a scheduled start time of 3:00 PM at Sportscore 2.
