MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Rockford University women's basketball team (0-2, 0-1 NACC) fell 70-48 on the road Saturday afternoon to a talented Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors team (2-1, 1-0 NACC). Although neither team shot the ball particularly well, 36.7% for WLC and 31.5% for RU, Wisconsin Lutheran was able to control the game on the interior and at the free throw line. The Warriors held a 36-18 advantage in points in the paint and converted on 24-of-32 free throws compared to just 10-of-14 at the charity stripe for the Regents.

Despite what the final score might indicate, the game was close early on. After Wisconsin Lutheran took a quick 3-0 lead, Rockford's Linzy Keller (Rockford, Ill.) knocked down her first shot attempt of the game to tie the game at 3-3. However, Wisconsin Lutheran would answer right back with five straight points to regain the lead. The Regents were able to stay within striking distance until the the 2-minute mark when the Warriors went on a 9-0 run that spanned into the early moments of the second quarter to take a commanding 22-7 lead. Rockford was unable to get any closer in the first half as Wisconsin Lutheran took a 38-17 advantage into halftime.

Things did get better for the Regents in the second half as they were able to find their offensive rhythm over the final two quarters. Rockford was outscored by just one point in the second half (32-31) as the Regents shot a blistering 50.0% from the floor over the final ten minutes. Senior Casey Pettit (Rockford, Ill.) was particularly effective going a perfect 2-for-2 from the field including draining her only three-point attempt of the game. Unfortunately it was not enough as the Warriors cruised to a 70-48 win.

Rockford used a balanced attack offensively as the Regents had just one player crack double-figures on Saturday. Sophomore Linzy Keller led the Regents with a season-high 10 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist. Senior Casey Pettit finished with 7 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Tajanae Key (Glendale Heights, Ill.) recorded a team-high 7 rebounds, 4 points, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. Freshman Neve Yerk (Belvidere, Ill.) led the RU bench with 8 points and 6 rebounds.

The RU women's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday, November 29 at Beloit College. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM at Flood Arena.
