ROCKFORD, Ill.- The Rockford University softball team returned to action today to take on Benedictine University. The Regents once again had their hands full with an Eagles squad that came in tied for second place in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference standings. Ultimately, Rockford made too many costly mistakes where Benedictine took advantage of as they lost by the finals of 8-0 and 7-0.
Rockford could only muster one hit in the first game against a tough Benedictine pitcher. In game two, the Regents held the Eagles offense in check for most of the game until they were able to break it open in the final two innings scoring four runs. Benedictine's first three runs came off of some costly mistakes from Rockford, as the Regents totaled four errors in the second game. Highlighting Rockford's offensive performances were Brittany Bihun (Schaumburg, Ill.) totaling one hit and a walk on the day. Abigail Wellwood (Rockford, Ill.), Caitln Eiben (Racine, Wis.), Nicole McCabe (Brookfield, Wis.) and Stefaney Kenworthy (Veedersburg, Ind.) each added one hit in the second game.
Rockford returns to action Wednesday, April 12 against Edgewood College in Verona, Wis. with a scheduled start time of 3 p.m.
