STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Rockford University indoor track and field teams concluded their season early on Saturday at the Pointer Final Qualifier. The Regents had just six student-athletes compete but still had an excellent meet, including setting a pair of personal bests.
The highest finish of the day belonged to freshman Kaylynne Terry (Streator, Ill.). Terry finished second in the shot put with a throw of 13.22 meters. She also competed in the weight throw event, where she finished 19th with a distance of 11.86 meters.
Katrina Kopfhamer (Portage, Wis.) was the other member of the women's team to compete on Saturday. Kopfhamer took 21sts in the weight throw with a distance of 10.56 meters.
Christian Devant (Winnebago, Ill.) set a new personal best in the 800 meter run. Devant placed 15th in the event and crossed the finish line in a personal best time of 2:02.57.
Devon Lawrence (Loves Park, Ill.) was the other Regent to record a personal best on Saturday. Lawrence finished 22nd in the weight throw with a personal best distance of 10.97 meters. He also took part in the shot put, where he finished 25th with a throw of 10.30 meters.
Freshman Tyrece Ahrens (Kankakee, Ill.) recorded the only top-10 finish for the RU men's team at the Pointer Final Qualifier. Ahrens placed sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.45 meters.
The final Regent to compete on Saturday was junior Jared Johnson (Miami, Fla.). Johnson took 20th in the weight throw with a distance of 13.56 meters.
