MEQUON, Wis. - The Rockford University men's soccer team fell 6-1 on the road Wednesday afternoon to the 2017 NACC Champion Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons (11-3-3, 9-1-0 NACC). Although the final score might not indicate it, the Regents played the Falcons tough for the entire match. Rockford was able to get off 9 shots, but unfortunately only 3 of them came on goal. Conversely, 11 of the Falcons' 16 shot attempts were on goal, leading to three goals in each half and the victory.
Rockford University senior Erik Manriquez (Rockford, Ill.) led the Regent attack in the final match of the year. Manriquez and fellow senior Jonathan Hernandez (Chicago, Ill.) tied for the team-high with 3 shots, and in the 62nd minute, Manriquez scored his second goal of the season in his final collegiate match.
The Regents concluded their season with an overall record of 4-13-1 including a 2-8-0 mark in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. Rockford continued its upward trajectory in the conference again this year. Barring an upset later tonight, the Regents will finish the season in ninth place in the NACC, their highest ever finish in the conference.
