LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team took to the field Saturday afternoon to face off against Grace Bible Institute. The men entered the second half starring at a deficit of 1-0. They answered the call in the second and came away on top with a final score of 3-2.
The Regents controlled most of the possession throughout the game as they outshot its opponent 25-8. However, Moody Bible would be the first to get on the board. It was not until almost 14 minutes into the second that the Regents would get the equalizer. Carlos Galvan (Rockford, Ill.) lined up to take a free kick from 20 yards out and placed the ball beautifully past the wall into the far side of the net, for his first collegiate goal. The Archers would regain the lead just 2 minutes later after an almost similar free kick goal. The game would continue until 18 minutes later a ball sent into the box would be hit in off an Archer defender to even the score at 2-2. It would not be long after before Galvan would claim the game winner for Rockford. Alonzo Carrillo (Harvard, Ill.) sent in a cross that found Andres Alberts (Atlanta, Ill.), who headed the ball to Galvan who headed it home to clinch the game.
RU takes to the field again when they travel to Benedictine on Wednesday, October 11. The match is scheduled for 7 PM.
