Men's Soccer Concludes its Season at Aurora

AURORA, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team wrapped up its 2016 season on Wednesday afternoon with a trip to face rival Aurora University. The Regents and Spartans played a very competitive first half as Rockford entered halftime trailing just 1-0. RU goaltender Anthony Beck (Fishers, Ind.) made 8 saves in the opening 45 minutes of the match to help keep the Regents within striking distance. Unfortunately, Aurora continued to put pressure the Rockford defense and scored four goals in the first ten minutes of the second half en route to an 8-0 win. 

At the conclusion of Rockford's final match of the season, the Regents had numerous players in the top ten in the NACC in multiple statistical categories. Junior Erik Manriquez (Rockford, Ill.) is tied for first in the conference with 9 assists. Sophomore Anthony Beck is currently fourth in the NACC with 80 saves. Junior Omar Rivas (Capron, Ill.) finished tied for tenth in the conference with 7 goals and tied for thirteenth with 15 points.
