RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Rockford University men's soccer team dropped its second straight match by a single goal on Sunday as the Regents fell 1-0 to the Concordia University Chicago Cougars. Sunday's loss is an especially difficult one as the Regents had statistical edges in nearly every single category. Rockford outshot the Cougars 16-14 including an 11-7 edge after halftime. The Regents also had a 7-5 edge in shots on goal with Rockford holding a 5-2 advantage in the second half. Despite the constant pressure from the Regents offense, especially in the final 45 minutes, it was the Cougars who scored the game-winning goal in the 42nd minute en route to a 1-0 victory.
Rockford goalkeeper Anthony Beck (Fishers, Ind.) had another good day allowing just one goal while making a trio of saves.
Todd Alberts (Davenport, Iowa) led Rockford's offensive attack tallying a season-high 6 shots with 3 of them coming on goal.
The RU men's soccer team returns home on Wednesday, October 19 to face the Benedictine University Eagles. The match has a scheduled start time of 3:00 PM at Sam Greeley Field.
