Unfortunately, Rockford was unable to do so dropping both games of the doubleheader by the finals of 8-7 and 11-1.
In game one, DePauw was able to scored the first six runs of the game and held Rockford scoreless until the eighth inning. In the eighth inning the Regents broke through when Kyle Rothrock (Utica, Ill.) hit a two-run double to right field to drive in Bryce Hinkelman (Ottawa, Ill.) and Chris Carlson (Schaumburg, Ill.). The scoring began when Jose Miranda (Yuma, Ariz.) hit a two-run single to right field to drive in Kraemer Brandt (Elk Grove, Ill.) and Dalvin Ramos (Chicago, Ill.). Rockford had narrowed their deficit to 7-4. Following Miranda was Austin Smith (Peru, Ill.) driving an RBI single through the left side to plate Carlson. Again, the Regents had trimmed the deficit to 7-5. A couple of batter later, Patrick O'Malley (Elk Grove, Ill.) lined a two-run single into right field to drive in Miranda and Smith. The clutch hit tied the game at 7-7. Unfortunately, DePauw was able to score a run in the bottom of the tenth inning to prevail by the final of 8-7.
